Volunteer Committees
Being involved in a committee is a great way to get to know other MPI members and get more value and R.O.I. out of your membership. We encourage all members to join a committee.
Membership Committee
The membership committee works with the VP Membership and MPI Headquarters to welcome and encourage local meeting professionals to join the MPI - GCC. Our committee creates membership incentive programs and works to stay in touch with members on a regular basis. A new project for this committee will be to develop and implement an orientation program for new members to welcome them to our chapter.
Education Committee
Our committee, chaired by the VP Education, is responsible for planning approximately 6 - 8 monthly educational events per year. We select the best venues, and the most exciting speakers who are entertaining and who will deliver strong educational content that will interest our members and potential members. If you have an interest in producing meetings with a WOW educational factor we want you on our committee. Your involvement can be as little as helping with evaluations or handouts or as big as facilitating the speakers needs & requirements. The more you get involved, the more you get out of your membership. We look forward to you joining our team!
Newsletter Committee
Committee members are needed for the Newsletter committee, chaired by the VP Communications. Our newsletter reaches out and informs our members about local chapter and meeting industry news in a creative way. This important communication tool for our membership advertises our products and services to members and others in the meetings industry. Writing articles for the newsletter is a great way to obtain points for CMP application or recertification.
Nominations Committee
Members are needed for the Nominations committee, chaired by the Immediate Past President. Potential committee members should have current or past MPI Board or Committee experience and be familiar with chapter members. Nominations Committee members will be appointed by the Immediate Past President but must also be approved by the Executive Committee. Activities from September – December involve getting to know members and discussing possible candidates for next year’s board with the rest of the committee. Activities from January – March involve fine tuning the nominations form for distribution, discussing available positions with possible candidates, reviewing submitted nomination forms, and preparation of the slate of officers for presentation at the AGM in March.
Chinook Awards Committee
Recognition of the great contributions of our valued members is a key component of our annual chapter programming. The Chinook Awards committee is responsible for reviewing the Chinook Awards nomination form, establishing deadlines, reviewing nominations, and selecting award winners. This committee also works with the Special Events committee to coordinate the awards presentation.
Special Events Committee
The Special Events committee adds the fun and excitement to our chapter’s annual programming. This committee, chaired by the Director of Special Events, is responsible for planning and execution of 2-3 special events per year including the fundraising silent auctions. These special events provide networking opportunities for members and provide an opportunity to involve MPI in the local community.
Website Committee – new committee
Committee members are needed for the website committee, chaired by the VP Communications. Our newly launched website is the primary tool for sending communications to members, and keeping them abreast of developments throughout the association, both locally and internationally. The newsletter committee volunteer is passionate about website design and flow and would assist with updates to the site as they arise.
Social Networking Volunteer – new position
Are you addicted to Facebook and Twitter? Want to help the VP Communications distribute information and grow our social MPI-GCC network? This new position will give you amazing networking opportunities through our various social networks set up for MPI members and friends.
